No Interruptions

Most of us spend at least part of our days in environments with lots of interruptions--questions, telephone calls, and unexpected needs to be met. We get pulled in other directions and end up feeling scattered, worn down, and even exhausted.

Have you ever spent an entire day with no interruptions whatsoever? If not, can you imagine such a day? From the time you wake up until you rest your head on your pillow again at night, what would you do? How would you use all of those moments … if you had them all to yourself?

Some of us might dive into unfinished tasks or other work. Others might pursue hobbies or creative projects. Others might choose to play or share time with family and friends. Do you have other ideas? Take a few minutes right now and imagine your very own No Interruptions Day.

Really, stop reading and imagine it.

[I'm waiting.]

Great! Now describe how you saw yourself. What were you doing and, more importantly, how did it make you feel? Did you feel open, free, able to be yourself, creative, or finally completing something. However you describe it, the chances are it felt good and satisfying, like finally being able to take a deep breath.

Our energy flow is like that. With no interruptions, it flows freely and we feel good. We are relaxed yet vibrant, free of pain, and clear-headed. And it’s our true nature to be that way, to have free-flowing energy.

Many types of interruptions can block our natural, open energy flow, such as foods we eat, environmental pollutants, or body injuries. But most of all, it is our attitudes that create hindrances in our energy. Worry, fear, anger, sadness and pretense - these attitudes interrupt our energy flow and leave us feeling like we've been hit with a barrage of telephone calls, doorbells and other demands.

The great news is … we can clear the interruptions in our energy and feel good again. And, amazingly enough, when our energy flows naturally and we feel good on the inside, other aspects of our lives tend to flow more freely, too. We experience less interruptions – inside and out.

Self Help practices give us an easy tool to clear our energy interruptions, and we can use them as daily maintenance and for specific applications, such as when we experience fatigue or headaches. Self Help is easy to learn, and even easier to do – it allows us to clear our own energy flows so every day can be a No Interruptions Day.
